Running north.

So, once upon a time there were two fine ladies, M and L. These ladies got pregnant and miscarried within weeks of each other. The ladies were sad. They found each other on a social networking message board and began emailing each other, finding comfort in knowing that someone else was having the same feelings they were experiencing. When M miscarried a second time, the fine ladies decided to meet and drink lots of margaritas and talk about how life really is unfair and to wonder aloud if they’d ever be mommies like they wanted.
After a combined 4 miscarriages, two c-sections, one 11 hour labor with a failed epidural, more than a thousand emails, ten phone calls, one cross country move and 4 years:

Three rugrats. Three dreams fulfilled.
Alice and I made the trip up to Wisconsin this past weekend to see our sweet Mandie Lane, her sweet family and her gorgeous home.
We hung out and talked and laughed and drank Mikeritas. And we took pictures.

New friends.

Gorgeous V!

Group bathing: Not ok.
We kind of knocked it out of the park as far as cute kids go, no?
Strawberries = yum.

Yep, I am posting a video of my daughter eating a strawberry. No, nothing exciting happens, unless you count a baby gumming a strawberry exciting. I just happen to think its very exciting. Her grandma will agree. For the rest of you, I apologize in advance. I’ll make the next post mildly entertaining to make up for this one.

Long in the tooth.

She’s getting old(er)!! She has a tooth! Not teeth, because there is only 1/4 of one, but its there. I felt it with my finger today at the Dr.’s office while we were waiting for her ears to be checked again (this is either her 3rd or 4th ear infection, depending on if you count the last one as two or as one that has lasted three weeks). I checked as I do every day, felt the tiny sharp nub and shrieked with delight. Alice sat up straight on my lap and looked so proud, so big. A photo was impossible, so you’ll have to take my word for it for now.
A few years ago I got a Louis Vuitton handbag and wallet. I thought that was cool. But this tooth? This is so much cooler.
I’m a proud mama and a big dork.

Yes, I do know that you already knew this. Just watch this and weep. Or burst with pride like I did.

7 Months!
| June 10, 2011 | Posted by Lisa under Uncategorized |
Would you look at my bean?? She’s more of a small person than a baby these days, or at least it feels like it with all of the real person stuff she’s been doing lately. She zeroes in on anything you don’t want her to get and grabs it: wires, tubes, pens, chicken wings. She’s lightening quick and everything goes straight in her mouth. Her bottom teeth are thisclose to breaking through. I feel them every night. I am so in love with her gummy smile that I’m not sure I’m ready for teeth just yet, though. She’s a perfect night sleeper, an ok napper, and a general delight to be around. I put her on my hip and she puts her leg across my stomach, curling her toes in to hold on, my own little koala hanging on tight to mama. She now prefers Peek-A-Boo to Patty Cake and she smiles at any song we sing to her. Her honey blonde hair is getting thicker, her eyes are still bright blue and her thighs are getting chunkier by the day. We noticed this month that her movements are more controlled from one day to the next. We babble and she babbles back. Every day she is more interactive with us then the day before, which means every day is our favorite day. Happy 7 Months, sweet Beanie Baby!

My favorite outfit: rainbow onesie and pink Daisy Dukes!

Default is tongue out- all the time.
Birthaversary 2011
| June 9, 2011 | Posted by Lisa under Uncategorized |
So, remember last year when we went to Cali for my birthday/our anniversary and I ate my way up the PCH and back? We spent a lot of that trip talking about how it would be when the Boobin was born. Its so weird to think about LBB (Life Before Boobin). What did we do with all of that free time? Apparently not a lot. We ate with two hands and slept in and watched the Wheel. I am glad to say that we still make time for Wheel of Fortune. (George cries when he loses, which is often. Its sad.)
Anyway, this year the big day was pretty awesome although it didn’t involve any flights west. We worked, stole away at lunch for Gumbo’s, and snuggled with Ms. A. I headed over to daycare for a quick visit after lunch and we had an iphone self-portrait photo shoot:

Earlier in the week, George surprised me with a new lens for my camera, so that night I took 453 pics of our gorgeous babe. All in all, it was a pretty awesome birthaversary with my two favorite people in the world.
Happy 4th anniversary to my love! Thanks for making the following photo possible!

Oh, like you can’t see the resemblance.
